MANILA, Philippines — A Filipina household worker was reportedly raped by a Kuwaiti police officer, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Wednesday.

According to the DFA, Chargé d’Affaires Mohd Noordin Lomondot of the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait reported that local authorities have issued an arrest warrant against the suspect identified as 22-year-old Fayed Naser Hamad Alajmy.

Lomondot, the DFA noted, said that Alajmy was the one who assisted the overseas Filipino worker (OFW) with the finger scanning registration at the airport when she arrived in Kuwait last June 4.

Alajmy then allegedly kidnapped and assaulted the Filipina household worker, the DFA added.

Lomondot, meanwhile, noted that the Filipina’s employer is cooperating with the embassy and Kuwaiti authorities.

“The [DFA], through the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait, is closely coordinating with Kuwaiti authorities for the speedy arrest of the suspect in the rape case involving a Filipina household service worker in Kuwait,” the DFA said in a statement.

“The Philippine Government will exert all efforts to ensure that justice is served,” it added. (Editor: Julie Espinosa)
