China to help PH in its drive vs corruption
MANILA, Philippines — China will help Malacañang’s anticorruption body in fulfilling its mandate and in boosting its capabilities.
The Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the National Commission of Supervision (NCS) of the People’s Republic of China during the second Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, which President Rodrigo Duterte attended.
The NCS is China’s anticorruption agency.
PACC chair Dante Jimenez and NCS Vice Chair Li Shulei signed the memorandum that will pave the way for joint cooperation between the two agencies.
Under the MOU, the PACC and NCS would “carry out cooperation in areas of prevention and punishment of corruption, and actively participate in anticorruption global governance.”
President Rodrigo Duterte created the PACC in October 2017 through an executive order.
