MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) appealed to Filipinos in Sudan to be cautious “in light of the uncertainty” caused by the political crisis currently gripping the African nation.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the DFA echoed the call of the Philippine Embassy in Cairo for Filipinos in Khartoum “to avoid crowded areas and stay inside their homes while the protests are ongoing.”

“It (Philippine Embassy) also called on Filipinos to inform the Embassy of any developments which may affect Filipinos in Sudan,” the DFA said.

The DFA further reminded members of the Filipino community in Sudan to reach out to the Philippine Embassy in Cairo through +202-252-13062 or the Facebook page “Philippine Embassy in Egypt” should they need assistance.

Filipinos may also contact the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Khartoum through the numbers +249-183-468717 or +249-183-468716, the DFA added. /gsg
