DFA awaits approval of Saudi gov’t for repatriation of OFW killed in Riyadh
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced that they are still waiting for the approval of Saudi Arabia officials on the repatriation of remains of the Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW).
On Wednesday, DFA reported that an OFW was stabbed to death by another Filipino worker due to “unknown reasons.”

The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh said authorities in Saudi Arabia are expected to issue the approval in the coming days following the conclusion of its investigation into the stabbing incident.
Further, DFA said authorities will soon receive the report of the autopsy of the victim on Thursday.
Article continues after this advertisementPhilippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Adnan Alonto said the suspect is in “serious but stable condition” at the National Guard Hospital in Riyadh.

Alonto also called on Filipinos in Saudi Arabia to stop spreading “speculative and unverified information” about the incident. /jpv
