DFA: No Filipino harmed in Toronto shooting
No Filipino was harmed or killed in the shooting incident in Toronto, Canada on Sunday, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday.
At the same time, DFA expressed its condolences to the families of two persons who were killed in the shooting incident that also left 13 persons wounded.
“We send our sympathies to the families who lost loved ones in the tragedy in Toronto on Sunday,” Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano said in a statement.
“We also pray for the immediate recovery of those wounded,” he added.
The DFA said the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto was in touch with police authorities who said that none among the 400,000 members of the Filipino community were affected.
The shooting was carried out by 29-year-old Faisal Hussain who died after exchanging fires with the police. /ee
