WATCH: Artists perform ahead of Asean Music Festival

Artists from the 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) member-states gave media a glimpse Monday of the pieces they will perform during the Asean Music Festival on Tuesday night.

During a press briefing, the artists performed a rearranged and contemporary version of the “Asean Spirit” song with lyrics by National Artist and National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Chair Virgilio Almario, and music by Josefino Toledo.

The artists also performed parts of their original pieces before members of media at the International Media Center at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

“We’re going to have Asean bands. Two or three will be solo acts, but the rest will be bands. There’ll be jazz, there’ll be traditional, rock music. We really brought a wide array of talent for this concert,” said Maribel Legarda, director of Asean music festival and the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA).

The music festival will highlight performances from nine Asean countries and from Philippine artists like Franco, Silent Sanctuary, The Ransom Collective, Parokya ni Edgar, and Ben & Ben.

Artists from other Asean countries include D’hask from Brunei, Nimith and Sophia from Cambodia, Mia Halida from Indonesia, Sack Cells from Lao PDR, Nading Rhapsody from Malaysia, Eint Chit from Myanmar, Asia 7 from Thailand, Tuan Anh from Vietnam,

Tuesday’s concert starting 7 p.m. at the Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati City will be open to the public, free of charge.

It will also be live-streamed.

“You can watch on Youtube but the experience of watching it live would never be the same,” Legarda said.
