876 teaching opportunities available in UAE

Here’s good news for local teachers in search of opportunities abroad.

The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) announced Tuesday that it is looking to fill 876 teaching and support positions in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region.

Emiratis and expatriates were encouraged to sign up for the openings for next year’s academic program, according to a Filipino Times report.

Applications are open for those with a backgrounds in KG, Islamic studies, Arabic, science, math, English, social studies, physiology, physics, biology, chemistry, earth science, social work and special education. Licensed psychologists are also welcome to apply.

Mohammed Al Dhaheri, ADEC executive director of School Operations, stressed the importance  of maintaining a national identity while adopting the highest international standards.

“The new appointments align with ADEC’s yearly plan to fill the vacancies according to the needs of schools, and to provide career opportunities that would help attract qualified educators and administrators to work in a variety of disciplines and grade levels in ADEC schools,” Al Dhaheri was quoted as saying in the report.

He also expressed hopes that the teaching openings would attract UAE nationals, as education is key to the future development of the country.

Apart from the required expertise in their field, interested applicants must also have a bachelor’s degree in the subject they’re applying for, a minimum overall grade of “good” and an IELTS Academic certificate with the required score for specific subjects.

Candidates who possess an ICDL (International Computer Driving Licence) will also be preferred.  Khristian Ibarrola
