Japanese tourist nabbed for grabbing Manila cop’s gun

MANILA — A Japanese tourist was arrested in Manila for allegedly grabbing the gun of a policewoman in Tondo, Sunday morning.

Manila Police District identified the suspect as Yuhei Chiba, who was currently billeted at a hotel in Pasay City.

The complainant, Police Officer 1 Anael Dawagan of Abad Santos Station, said she was on a motorcycle when Chiba tried to grab her gun about 8 a.m. near Moriones street.

She was on patrol with PO1 Reyna Joey Ofalsa when Chiba appeared from behind and grabbed her gun.

Chiba failed to get it because it was locked inside the holster.

Dawagan pushed Chiba back and arrested him. They took him to MPD general assignment section, which handles criminal complaints by and against foreigners.  SFM
