The chief of the United Nations has nominated the commissioner of the Philippines’ Commission on Audit, Heidi Mendoza, as the new under-secretary general for the internal oversight services of the UN.

“United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, following consultations with chairs of regional groups, informed the General Assembly of his intention to appoint Heidi Mendoza of the Philippines as the new Under-Secretary-General for Internal Oversight Services for a five-year non-renewable term,” a statement of the UN said.

Mendoza has been the commissioner COA since 2011, particularly heading the audit committee on public sector auditing standards board and serving as external auditor for the Food and Agriculture Organization, World Health Organization and International Labor Organization.
