Filipino in UAE jailed for filming roommates in shower

A Filipino designer was sentenced to six months in jail for filming his female roommates with a hidden camera in their bathroom.

In a report from the Khaleej Times on Thursday, the UAE Court of First Instance found the 37-year-old Filipino guilty of charges of molestation and breaching women’s modesty.

He was caught by his two roommates last Nov. 7 before could film them in their flat at Jebel Ali. When he was caught, he claimed that the camera was broken.

“We removed it, but could not find any memory card in it. We took it to the police,” one of the roommates said.

During his trial, the Filipino admitted that he installed a hidden camera “shaped as a clothes hanger” on the bathroom door on Sept. 28 last year.

He also said that he had filmed his roommates taking a shower or getting dressed.

The report said he did the act because “he wanted to please himself while watching his roommates.”

The Filipino will be deported after his jail term has been completed.
