Asean ministers condole with Nepal quake victims
KUALA LUMPUR – The foreign ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations on Sunday expressed their sympathies to Nepal and the other countries struck by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake, which killed thousands of people.
“We the foreign ministers of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) are deeply shocked and saddened by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal as well as its surrounding neighbors, India and Bangladesh, on 25th April 2015,” they said in a joint statement.
“We wish to convey our deepest condolences to the governments and peoples of Nepal, India and Bangladesh, as well as to the families affected by the earthquake.”
The ministers said they were saddened by the loss of lives and damages wrought to properties and historical heritage sites in Kathmandu.
They also expressed solidarity with the three nations and offered to help and join international efforts to help in the recovery and rehabilitation of the affected areas.
