Moscow-Cebu flights start December until May 2015
MANILA, Philippines—Russians will soon discover why it’s more fun in the Philippines with the launching of direct flights from Moscow to Cebu, which will begin in December, the Philippine Embassy in Moscow announced.
The Embassy said that a Boeing 777-200ER of Russian airline Oren Air will fly out of Moscow every 11 days from December 26, 2014 until May 2015. The airplane can carry 300-450 passengers.
“The scheduled charter alone can bring in up to 4,500 high-value tourism arrivals to the Philippines,” the embassy said in a statement.
Russian tourists can go directly to Cebu and onward to various high-end destinations and tourist spots in the Philippines such as Manila, Boracay, Bohol, Negros and Palawan, which was recently declared as the “top island in the world” by an award-winning travel magazine.
There are around 2,896 Filipinos in Russia according to the December 2012 records of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO).
Philippine Charge d’ Affaires Melchor P. Lalunio, Jr. opened the event held at the Philippine Embassy last October 20. Russian media and tour operators attended the event and learned all about the many tourist destinations in the Philippines.
