SACRAMENTO — California recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), or Dreamers, qualify for Medi-Cal, California’s Medicaid program.
Up to 125,000 undocumented young immigrants are estimated to be eligible for Medi-Cal, according to the new report released by the UC Berkeley Labor Center, the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, and the UCSF Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies.
DACA provides temporary relief from deportation for undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children. In California, unlike in most other states, low-income individuals granted Deferred Action are eligible for Medi-Cal.
