MANILA, Philippines – The lifeless body of a Filipino was found hanging from the ceiling of the Fujairah International airport in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last February 2, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Wednesday.
“Our Consulate General in Dubai confirmed that a Filipino was found dead at the Fujairah Airport last Saturday. His lifeless body was seen hanging from the airport’s ceiling,” DFA spokesman Raul Hernandez told reporters in a press briefing.
The man, whose identity could not yet be disclosed, was in his 30s and was working at the airport’s food distribution section, he said.
Forensic investigators have already identified the person and are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
“The employment agency of the deceased has already been asked to inform his next-of-kin of his death,” Hernandez said.
“Our Consulate General will also assist in the repatriation of his remains as soon as the investigation is concluded,” he said.
There are 931,562 permanent, temporary, and irregular Filipinos in the UAE as of December 2012, according to the Commission on Filipinos Overseas.
