MANILA, Philippines – The United States (US) Embassy in Manila will be closed on Monday, January 20, in commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The US Embassy tweeted that January 20 is an American holiday to commemorate King’s contribution to the civil rights movement.
The embassy will resume services on January 21.
King, remembered in the US every third Monday of January, is known as America’s chief spokesman for nonviolent activism in his role in the US civil rights movement, the embassy said.
