China-bound plane overshoots runway in Kalibo airport

MANILA, Philippines – An international plane bound for Pudong, China overshot the runway at the Kalibo International airport at around 3 p.m. Thursday.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, an Air Asia Zest plane with plane number RTC 8988 was set to take off when it miscalculated the length of the runway.

After the incident, authorities said the Kalibo International Airport would be closed until 6 p.m. Thursday.

CAAP added that Air Asia Zest would send another plane to take the mostly Chinese tourists passengers to Pudong.
