Baguio city’s pride Reynold Domalsin topped the male division after clinching the overall title of the Mr. and Ms. Asia Pacific International Bodybuilding Championships 2011 in Boracay Island, Aklan last weekend.
Domalsin bagged $1,000 for his win in this event that also attracted a host of foreign participants.
Emay Guiap made it a Filipino sweep as she ended a long drought by bringing home the Ms. Asia Pacific title. She was also named Ms. Physique.
With their victories, both gained slots to the World Championships slated in Germany next month.
Meanwhle, the Figure competition was won by half-Filipino, half-Indonesian Leigh Guda. Dennis Nichol topped the athletics class while Farley Letigio finished first in the Masters class.
A total of 92 competitors joined the event with over 50 percent of them coming from abroad. The Philippines, though, had the most number of competitors.
Other participants came from countries like Pakistan, New Zealand, India, United Arab Emirates (UAE), USA, Malaysia and Kuwait.
Meanwhile, a UAE bodybuilder showed an unsportsmanlike conduct during the awarding ceremonies after he threw away the trophy which was given to him.
Organizers said the National Body Builders Association (NABBA) and the Samahan ng mga Barbelista ng Pilipinas (SBP) will not tolerate this kind of behavior and will take proper action about the incident.
