DAVAO CITY, Philippines—A Chinese national allegedly involved in illegal mining in Pantukan, Compostela Valley, and an overstaying South Korean have been deported by the Bureau of Immigration office in Southern Mindanao.
Eddie Delima, Immigration control officer, said Chinese Gan Suixin violated the conditions of his tourist visa when he engaged in illegal extraction of minerals, while Korean Jin Sub Roh had been staying in the country beyond what the law allowed.
Delima said two more foreigners—German Ferdinand Szobotka and Korean Kyong Su An –were to be deported next month following their arrest for overstaying.
He said the immigration bureau was also closely watching other foreigners who may be in the country in violation of immigration laws. These foreigner included Chinese, Indians, Koreans, Pakistanis, and Sri Lankans, Delima said.
“They are in a considerable number but we can’t just arrest and deport them without a mission order,” he said, adding that most overstaying aliens, who entered the country on tourist visas, have since engaged in various businesses.
