In a ceremony held last Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Boeing facilities in Seattle, Consul General Marciano A. Paynor, Jr. thanked the company and its employees for their support.
Welcomed by Dan Schull, Boeing’s sales and marketing director for Asia Pacific, Paynor and other guests toured the Boeing factory and had lunch with Capt. Alfonso Rodriguez and other representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
A short program followed, featuring the blessing of the Boeing plane that, flying under Philippine Airlines flight PR 772, flew to the Philippines 3,000 pieces of tarps and rope donated by World Vision to help in the relief and rebuilding efforts in the areas hardest hit by typhoon Yolanda.
Paynor also thanked World Vision for its donation and relief work in the Philippines, and Philippine Airlines for ferrying the contributions totaling nine pallets of equipment (about a ton in weight).
Schull was joined by other Boeing officials, Jaime Macandog, lead account manager; Wilson Chow, communications oficer; and Wes Bare, executive VIP tour guide/visitor relations specialist.
National Director for World Vision Johnny Cruz and Philippine Airlines Manager, Kiel Martin A. Garcia, were also in attendance.
