Chinese hospital ship arrives in Leyte

TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte – A Chinese ship with 100 doctors and hospital capabilities arrived at Leyte Gulf Sunday afternoon to offer medical treatment and other assistance to victims of Supertyphoon “Yolanda” (international name Haiyan).

The Chinese ship, called Peace Ark, is headed by Rear Adm. Shen Hao, the mission commander, and Capt. Guan Bo Lin, chief of the Navy Health Department of the People’s Liberation Army.

They were accompanied by Ambassador Ma Ke Quing and welcomed by Representative Martin Romualdez at 7 p.m. Sunday.
