UE alumni form Hawaii Chapter

Hawaii-based University of the East (UE) alumni will launch the UE Association of America Hawaii Chapter (UEAAHC) with a fun dance on Nov. 10, 5 p.m. onwards, at Rumours, Ala Moana Hotel in Pearl City, Hawaii.

The UEAAHC launching will be led by founding President Baybee Hufana-Ablan, who will be joined by other founding officers, namely Alfonso S. Sabangan, Vice-President; Felice “Chit” Guillermo, Secretary; Ernesto Y. Yadao, Treasurer; Amado “Sam” Quemado, Auditor; Joe Lim, Business Manager; and Mito N. Ablan, PRO. The members of the Board of Directors are lawyer Mar Apuya, Dr. Amelia Reyes Jacang, Dr. Marina Badua, Dr. Erlinda Cachola, Saturnino L. Ulep, Fidel “Junior” Hufana, and Joe G. Quibuyen.

Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie recently inducted into office the UEAAHC founding officers and directors, who are gearing up to host the 3rd UE Alumni Global Reunion on May 14 to 17, 2015.

UE President and Chief Academic Officer Ester A. Garcia congratulated the UEAAHC founding officers and Board of Directors.  “On behalf of the University of the East, I send my heartfelt congratulations to all of you, Garcia said in a letter.
