MANILA, Philippines—Members of a volunteer group based in California have completed water projects in a village in Calamba City, Laguna province, in their continuing search for projects to reduce, if not eliminate, waterborne diseases in the world.
The group Got Agua? completed piping systems connecting two wells that are the sources of potable water of the people of Barangay Halang in Calamba.
Got Agua? operates in parts of the world that need potable water, like India, Africa and the Philippines.
In a press statement, the group said it coordinates with local communities to meet their water needs.
It said that in Barangay Halang, Got Agua? worked with village officials, led by chair Eulogio L. Precilla, to install a piping system that would also allow wells that the pipes connect to irrigate rice fields and at the same time supply clean drinking water.
Got Agua? also drilled a new water well to replace those that have been contaminated.
