Wanted: Entries to Kulinarya cook-off in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO—So you think you can cook? The Kulinarya Cooking Competition is looking for contestants to enter the “Qualifying Round–Professional Division” of the 4th Kulinarya Cooking Competition.

It will be held on Friday, October 18 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Philippine Center Social Hall, 5th Floor of 447 Sutter Street, San Francisco.

 

The competition is open to professional chefs, cooks, food truck vendors, culinary instructors, culinary institute graduates, licensed caterers or foodies who are currently or have been employed in any of the mentioned capacities.

Contestants will be required to bring one cooked Filipino dish during the Qualifying Round. One contestant will be chosen to represent San Francisco and compete in the “Championship Round – Professional Division” scheduled on November 23 at the City View, Metreon, San Francisco, against the finalists from other key cities in competitions organized by Philippine Embassy/Consulates General in the United States.

The grand winner will receive a cash prize, round trip ticket to the Philippines, hotel stay and a tour of the Philippine Kulinarya destinations to be arranged by Philippine Department of Tourism.

The champion will likewise have a chance to showcase his skills and talents at the EAT! Vancouver World Culinary Travel Expo in Vancouver, BC Canada in May 2014.
