Jaehyong Lee, 30, a real estate broker, underwent inquest proceedings before the Quezon City prosecutors’ office on Tuesday after a vehicular accident the night before along EDSA.
The foreigner was arrested and brought to Camp Karingal for allegedly attacking a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority traffic enforcer and resisting a rookie policeman.
Police Officer 3 Erickson Isidro, the case investigator, said the inquest prosecutor recommended a case of resistance and serious disobedience against Lee.
Meanwhile, the direct assault case was dropped for lack of probable cause.
The incident stemmed from a traffic accident along EDSA at around 11:30 p.m. Monday.
The foreigner, a resident of Eastwood in Libis, said he had four bottles of beer in Pasig City before the accident.
Lee was driving a Honda Accord with license plate ZRH 254 along EDSA’s northbound lane when he allegedly bumped a Honda CRV with license plate ZKE 859, driven by a certain Teresita Dizon.
MMDA traffic enforcer Tristan Neneria, 29, saw this and rushed to the accident site.
However, Lee allegedly held Neneria by the right arm and pushed him away, saying: “You are only an MMDA.”
A patrolman assigned to the nearby Baliwag bus station, Police Officer 1 Stanley de Guzman, 24, noticed the commotion and came to the traffic enforcer’s aid.
The Korean national allegedly resisted the policeman’s efforts to arrest him but Lee later ended up in Camp Karingal.
