THE 4th Mandaue City Mayor’s Junior Tennis Cup could be Jarryd Laurel’s time to shine after he marched to the semifinal round of the 16-and-under boys category after blasting Dwyne Tarculas, 10-4 yesterday at the Mandaue City tennis courts.
Making the semis in the 14-under boys are Raymart Cortes who edged Donnel Lastimosa, 10-9 and Geo Pepito who outlasted Norman Joseph Enriquez, 10-6.
Also clinching semis tickets in the 12-under boys are Clyde Laquio, Francis Hidalgo, Gener Francis Lambayan and Nathaniel Alipe.
Laquio crushed Rey Toledo, 10-2; Hidalgo annihilated Jude Balundo, 10-3; Lambayan routed Kevin Balundo, 10-2 while Alipe nipped Romel Lopez, 10-7.
In the distaff side, advancing to the final four of the 16-under girls were China Comeros who bombed Abriel Culpa, 10-1; Elma Dasian who booted out Nathalie Alipe, 10-2; Glory Faith Bohol who beat Edelweiss Donaire, 10-5; and Sharalyn Tuñacao who routed Thea Ceniza, 10-2.
Booking semis tickets in the 14-under girls are Beverly Enriquez who ended the campaign of Martina Cabrera; Jill Marion Go who demolished Nikka Toledo, 10-6; Berlie Buanhug who ripped Cherry Toledo, 10-3; and Aurey Anfoney who blanked Mary Calapre.
In the 12 under girls, Shenna Maine Dungog routed Dorothy Bacarro, 10-1.
Advancing in the 10-under unisex were Mark Suson who scored a 10-2 rout of Nonito Pepito; Don Vinz Lominoque who stopped Cesar Kristopher Salimbangon, 10-1; Ally Joy Galario who edged Bernie Blyre Buanhug, 10-9 (7-4); and Adrian Kinaadman who beat Domique Enriquez. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
