Norwegian tourist raped in resort

CURRIMAO, Ilocos Norte—A 15-year-old Norwegian tourist was allegedly raped by a resort worker in this town on Friday night, police said.

The suspect, a waiter at Playa Tropical Resort here, was surrendered by the resort’s managers to the police on Sunday.

Senior Inspector Ryan Retutar, Currimao police chief, said the girl, who was vacationing with her family here, was in a nipa hut near the resort’s swimming pool at 11:30 p.m. on Friday when the waiter arrived.

Police said the 22-year-old suspect sat beside her and, because it was raining at that time, asked that they go to a nearby cafeteria. Once inside, police said the waiter locked the door and allegedly raped her.

Retutar said they have yet to file charges against the suspect because they are waiting for an interpreter to get the girl’s full testimony.  Leilanie Adriano, Inquirer Northern Luzon
