Fireworks display part of M’daue’s fiesta celebration

MANDAUEHANONS are invited to watch eight-minute fireworks display in a vacant lot fronting a mall in the North Reclamation Area in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City on Sunday evening.

The display is part of the city’s fiesta celebration on Sunday called the “Symphony of Fire.”

Jonathan Gesalem, vice president for operations of Dragon Fireworks, is encouraging those who would view the fireworks display to also tune in to two FM stations Y101 and Hot FM while watching the fireworks display since the fireworks would be synchronized with three music played at these stations.

Gesalem said that their fireworks display on Sunday, will be “note to note” depending on the music’s tune. There will be three songs played in the eight-minute-fireworks display.

“I would like to invite the public and check out the difference in the “Symphony of Fire,” he said referring to the New Year’s Eve fireworks display in the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

He said fireworks display including all set up and other preparations cost almost a million. However, the fiesta committee also contributed P300,000 for the fireworks show.

Regal Oliva, assistant city treasurer and member of finance committee for the fiesta committee, said that P6.8 million was allotted for the fiesta activities.

The P4 million came from the city government while the balance was donated from the private sector.

The activities include the fireworks display on May 8, Balikbayan Night on May 6 and the Biggest Bibingka Day on May 10./Reporter Jucell Marie P. Cuyos
