BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – A 75-year-old American man died Tuesday morning after his car slammed into a roadside barrier on Kennon Road in Baguio City, reports from the police and the Office of Civil Defense said.
Ronald Albert Hoffman, a native of Indiana, was negotiating a sharp curve on the steep mountain road when he lost control of his Mazda sedan and hit the steel barrier, some 200 meters from the lion’s head marker in Barangay (village) Camp 6, according to Inspector Viyo Hidalgo, Baguio police spokesperson.
Rafael Valencia, head of the rescue volunteer group, 911 On Call, said Hoffman, who was driving alone, died while being taken to the Baguio General Hospital at past 7 a.m. Tuesday.
