MANILA, Philippines – A team of investigators from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) tasked to look into the Philippine coast guards’ fatal shooting of a Taiwanese fisherman left for Taiwan Monday morning, NBI Director Nonnatus Rojas said.

The investigating team’s target in Taiwan was to examine the boat used by the fishermen when the encounter took place.

The team left for Taiwan 7:50 a.m. on board Philippine Airlines flight PR896.

Rojas said the team was expected to stay in Taiwan for three days to finish their work.

“[But] that is subject to adjustment as needed,” Rojas said in a text message.
