NBI probers set to leave for Taiwan

MANILA, Philippines—The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is all set to leave for Taiwan to examine the fishing vessel and interview the crew members who were part of the group where a fisherman was killed last May 9, Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said Wednesday.

“It would be very soon but we cannot announce exactly when,” De Lima told reporters.

The NBI is on the final stretch of its investigation.

De Lima said the only thing left for the bureau to do is to examine the fishing vessel and interview the crew.

She, however, declined to give further details about the investigation and the NBI’s trip.

“We do not want any fanfare here. How can they do their work if the media would always follow them,” De Lima said.

Meanwhile, NBI Director Nonnatus Rojas said they are just waiting for a clearance from the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (Meco) before their investigators leave for Taiwan.
