MANILA, Philippines—The temptation to gamble must have been too hard to resist for a Korean casino junket employee who ended up losing more than P13 million of his company’s money.

Shin Yun-jae, manager for casino junket operator Pink Dolphin, now faces a qualified theft complaint, after he admitted that he stole P13.5 million from his company’s vault.

After taking the money, he went on a gambling spree at a casino in Resorts World Manila in Pasay City.

“Casino junkets” are casino trips or tours organized by an operator for regular gamblers.

Chief Supt. Rodolfo Llorca, Pasay police chief, said that the suspect “abused the trust and confidence [placed in him] by his company….”

After he lost the money through gambling, Shin confessed to his superiors on Tuesday evening.

After conducting its own investigation, Pink Dolphin, represented by complainant Kim Sang-yoon, turned over the suspect to arresting officer SPO1 Fraulz Paduga on Wednesday.—With Alex Austria
