MANILA, Philippines—The Bureau of Customs (BOC)) on Thursday filed smuggling complaint and a violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 against a Nigerian national for bringing into the country P24 million worth of methampethamine hydro chloride or shabu.
Slapped with a complaint before the Department of Justice was identified as Sunday Michael P. Owoborode who was arrested by the Customs police operatives upon his arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) from Bangkok, Thailand last April 19, 2013.
The drugs were found in three plastic sealed carbon paper packages wrapped with brown duct tape, Customs chief Ruffy Biazon told reporters.
Owoborode is now under the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and could be facing the maximum penalty of life imprisonment under Philippine laws.
