MANILA, Philippines–More Immigration personnel will be held liable for the departure of a wanted Korean, Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said after meeting with Immigration officials Tuesday.

“The Bureau of Immigration is also conducting its own investigation and pointed certain personalities involved in the irregular departure of the Korean national,” De Lima said in an ambush interview.

Earlier, the Bureau of Immigration relieved from her post Ma. Roselle Sacendoncillo and she has been recalled to the Immigration’s main office in Intramuros.

The case stemmed from the escape of Park Sung Jun who is wanted for an investment scam in South Korea last March 18.

According to BI spokesperson Antonette Mangrobang, the employee is also being investigated for possible administrative and criminal liability.

Results of the initial investigation showed that the BI employee had cleared Park’s departure before boarding a Philippine Airlines flight to South Korea.

Mangrobang clarified that the Korean has been the object of a manhunt by BI operatives but eluded arrest during his stay in the country.
