Nurses warned vs offers of jobs in Singapore

MANILA, Philippines—Philippine Overseas Employment Administration head Hans Leo Cacdac has warned against scammers luring local nurses to nonexistent jobs in Singapore.

Cacdac said Tan Zhiyi of the Human Resource Division of Singapore General Hospital alerted him to numerous messages he received from Filipinos asking about job offers made by e-mail.

The e-mails originated from singaporegenhosp@zoho.com, singaporegeneralhosp@ojooo.com and singaporegenhosp@hush.com.

Tan denied the e-mails had come from the hospital, Cacdac said.

He said the recipients were told to deposit P3,800 in a bank account for a visa interview preparation fee. Tan said the bank account did not

belong to the hospital.

“It is safer for our jobseekers to submit their applications through licensed recruitment agencies in the Philippines,” Cacdac said.—Tina G. Santos
