Philippines to deport German fugitive wanted for sex crimes
MANILA, Philippines—The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is set to deport a German fugitive wanted for sex crimes in his country following his arrest in Cebu City recently.
Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. identified the escapee as Michael Heeren, 32, who was arrested last July 12 by operatives of the BI fugitive search unit in Barangay (village) Poblacion, Dalaguet, Cebu City.
Heeren is currently detained at the immigration jail in Bicutan, Taguig pending issuance of the order for his deportation by the BI board of commissioners, David said.
“We will also ban him from re-entering the Philippines for being an undesirable alien,” David said, adding that “foreign sex perverts should not be given the privilege to stay in the country.”
Hereen was arrested in Cebu while vacationing with his daughter.
BI intelligence officer Uso Dan Salisim said “the child was turned over to the custody of the German embassy in Manila which will arrange her trip back to Germany.”
Aside from the complaint by Hereen’s wife that he escaped to the Philippines with their child, Salisim said he was also the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the Court of Criminal Procedure in Emden, Germany where he was charged with 14 cases of sexual assault and molestation.
German prosecutors alleged that the accused victimized 14 young women whom he had tried to coerce to have sex with him.
