Filipinos in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) illegally have until February to avail themselves of an amnesty program that would legitimize their stay.
Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz on Wednesday encouraged overseas Filipino workers in the UAE to leave the country without penalty or regularize their visas by Feb. 3.
She said the Abu Dhabi government had issued a new two-month amnesty to illegal residents that took effect on Dec. 4.
After the deadline, UAE authorities will consider those who failed to avail themselves of the amnesty as being illegal. Tina G. Santos
