MANILA, Philippines — The United States (US) embassy in Manila announced on Friday that its offices would be closed on Monday, November 12, in observance of Veterans’ Day.
The embassy noted that Veterans’ Day is celebrated every year in the US on November 11 (November 12 in Manila) — the day that major hostilities of World War I formally ended with the signing of the Armistice at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918.
“This year, since November 11 falls on a Sunday, the US government has declared a holiday on Monday, November 12,” it said.
It added that the embassy and its affiliated offices would resume operations on November 13, Tuesday.
