MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Foreign Affairs on Friday said that no Filipino has been injured or killed as heavy fighting continued in Syria.
DFA spokesman Raul Hernandez said Filipinos were safe despite the four explosions in Aleppo on Wednesday.
The Philippine consul general in Damascus said there were about 180 Filipinos in Aleppo and the government was taking measures to secure and repatriate them.
More than 4,000 Filipinos, both documented and undocumented, are still in conflict-torn Syria.
The government is processing the exit visas of some 400 Filipino household workers whose contracts will expire this year. Ruel Perez; Tetch Torres
