DENR exec named head of Asean biodiversity body
MANILA, Philippines—A top official of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources has been named head of the Asean Centre for Biodiversity (ACB).
Environment undersecretary for field operations Demetrio L. Ignacio was appointed as acting executive director of the ACB during a meeting last month in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Ignacio will be serving in a concurrent capacity, the DENR and the ACB said in a statement on Thursday.
Ignacio will be in charge of hall policy guidance and operational supervision until a new executive director is appointed.
The ACB said the recruitment process for the new executive director is supervised by the Asean Secretariat.
Ignacio is the Asean senior environment official for the Philippines and a member of the ACB governing board.
