Del Rosario hits moves to muddle Philippine foreign policy
MANILA, Philippines – Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario vowed to implement the foreign policy of the executive department as he deplored moves to muddle talks with China in the West Philippine Sea territorial dispute.
“The DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) executes the foreign policy of the President. We will not dignify those who are working to divide us. There must be one policy and one team in promoting our national interest in the West Philippine Sea,” he said.
Del Rosario issued the statement amid the word war between Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile over the former’s initiative to back channel talks for the territorial disputes in the West Philippine Sea with China.
