LOS ANGELES, California—Hoping to raise more than $2 million in one day on behalf of the March of Dimes, Farmers Insurance is inviting the public to join its 6th annual Be a Hero for Babies Day® event on Wednesday, June 29 at the company’s headquarters located at 4680 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles.
“Farmers is a long time supporter of the March of Dimes, and we want to invite our Southern California neighbors to join in the fun and the ‘fun’-draising on the 29th,” said Robert Woudstra, chief executive officer of Farmers Insurance. “Helping prevent premature births is something everyone can support, and that’s why we’re inviting the local community to join us and the March of Dimes in this effort.”
The Farmers Insurance Be a Hero for Babies Day® has become the biggest one-day fundraiser in the history of the March of Dimes. For the past several years, the largest insurer headquartered in Los Angeles has rallied its agents, district managers and employees across the country to raise funds on behalf of the charity that helps to assure all babies are born healthy.
“We are proud of the way thousands of our Farmers Family members come together on Be a Hero for Babies Day® to support healthy babies,” said Jeff Dailey, president of Farmers Insurance. “Farmers people are committed to making our fundraising March of Dimes effort a huge success.”
The day will begin at 6:00 a.m. with the company’s Eastern and Midwest offices phoning in their fundraising totals. The community carnival will kick-off at 8:00 a.m., followed by the new feature, Los Angeles award winning food trucks that will participate in a Food Fest and begin serving at 11:00 a.m. The day’s festivities will conclude at 2:00 p.m., and cash is king for this event, with all proceeds going to the March of Dimes.
At the event, the company will also feature tethered rides on its ExtraOrdinaire hot air balloon and tours of one of Farmers’ Mobile Command Center, a 46-foot mobile bus filled with state-of-the-art communications equipment and supplies which is used to provide community support after a disaster.
In addition, Farmers will kick-off the morning with a community carnival featuring a number of interactive games for kids of all ages.
In partnership with NASCAR racer Mark Martin, a mockup of his actual racecar will be on hand for viewing.
The special “foodie” extravaganza will feature Southern California’s hottest food truck purveyors, including
