MANILA, Philippines—Malacañang on Wednesday said President Benigno Aquino III will write US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to thank her for her encouraging remarks on the Philippine government’s efforts against human trafficking.

In a statement, presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said the administration was also commending Assistant City Prosecutor Darlene Pajarito of Zamboanga City for receiving the State Department’s Global Trafficking in Persons Hero Award.

Clinton’s words “are of particular significance as they come from a committed advocate of liberating persons from the evils of human trafficking,” Lacierda said.
