MANILA, Philippines—Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation re-arrested, on Saturday, a recruiter accused of duping overseas Filipino workers into transporting illegal drugs, including a Filipino woman who was executed last year in China.
Tita Cacayan did not resist when NBI operatives seized her in Barangay (village) Rizal, Alicia, Isabela, based on a warrant of arrest issued by the Isabela Regional Trial Court Branch 20 on a charge of large-scale illegal recruitment, according to information released on Monday.
Cacayan was first arrested in 2011 on drugs charges but the case was dismissed by the Manila RTC because complainants did not appear in court.
The NBI investigated Cacayan last year for the recruitment of Sally Ordinario Villanueva who was executed in March 2011 for drug trafficking. Cacayan allegedly provided Villanueva the bag containing illegal drugs that was intercepted in China.
Cacayan is presently detained at the NBI main office in Manila.
