93-year-old American pensioner stabbed dead in Makati

MANILA, Philippines—A 93-year-old American pensioner, Victorina de las Alas Gonzalez, was stabbed to death by a still unidentified suspect in Makati Monday night, a radio report said Tuesay.

Gonzalez was found in her home at Anahaw street, Makati, by her sister, Purificacion, at around nine in the evening Monday, the report said. The victim was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.

Police were looking at the robbery angle since the victim’s valuables amounting to an estimated $400 and jewelry were missing in the house.

Investigators also said that there were no signs of forced entry in the house which means the perpetrator could be someone known by the victim.
