Korean found dead in Makati apartment

MANILA, Philippines—The authorities on Saturday discovered the decomposing body of a female South Korean who was believed to have committed suicide a few days earlier in Makati City.

Case investigator Police Officer 3 Dominador Robles of the Makati Police  said the body of Won Young was found hanging by a piece of white cloth around her neck from a door’s post inside her apartment at Prince Plaza Condominium in Legaspi Village at 11:40 a.m.

He said the victim could have been dead for a few days when her body was discovered. “Her body was already in an advanced state of decomposition,” the investigator said.

Prior to the discovery, the condominium’s roving security guard smelled a stench emanating from the woman’s apartment.

A verification made with the security logbook showed that the unit’s occupant last checked in on June 18.

“And she never checked out since then. This prompted the building security officials to report the incident to us,” Robles said, adding that they had to forcibly open the woman’s apartment.

Robles said they have already ruled that the case was a suicide, saying there was no sign of forcible entry.

“There was no sign of struggle. Her room was not in disarray and her valuables were intact. There’s no sign of foul play,” the police officer said.
