CEBU CITY, Philippines—The Bureau of Customs in Cebu on Thursday seized nine sport utility vehicles from a repair shop owned by a Korean on suspicion that these were smuggled.
Jung Choi-myung, owner of Total Golden Motor Care at the North Reclamation Area in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City, didn’t stop customs officials when they seized the vehicles during the raid on his repair shop at 3 p.m.
Jung, who remained inside his office during the raid, allegedly told his employees to allow the customs officials to take what they wanted, said shop supervisor Charlie Danes.
The seized vehicles—four Kia Sorento, two Hyundai Starex, a Hyundai Tucson, a Kia Retona and a Ssangyong Korando—were taken to the Cebu customs district office, according to district collector Ronnie Silvestre.
