MANILA, Philippines–The Chinese Embassy on Thursday denied a report that China had issued a black travel alert barring Chinese nationals from coming to the Philippines amid an alleged kidnapping of Chinese tourists last month.
“As far as I know, there is no black travel alert by the Chinese government,” said Chinese Embassy spokesperson Zhang Hua in a text message sent to the INQUIRER on Thursday.
Zhang, however, made no comment when asked if the Embassy has received any report on the recent cases of kidnappings, which anti-crime crusader Teresita Ang-See recently bared.
Ang-See said one case involved men in police uniform snatching four Chinese nationals in Cavite while on a visit to their relatives last month. He said police refused to listen to her and accused her of exaggerating abduction reports.
