“Absolutely, loyalty in marriage is possible even if physical distance sets a husband and a wife apart,” said Navie Veloria, psychologist of NV Life Coach. If overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) always wear their wedding rings, it will serve as constant reminders to be faithful to their partners.
However some overseas workers intentionally remove their wedding rings. Some hide their real marital status. Male OFWs do this when they are attracted to other women overseas. Some OFW wives, even if they wear their wedding rings, introduce themselves as widows when they intend to play with short-time relationships.
Such situations would not happen if both husband and wife are determined to be trustworthy and uphold their marriage vows.
Wearing a wedding ring should symbolize a couple’s strong and faithful relationship.
