REDWOOD CITY, California – The Filipino American community of Southern California pledged its support to the ABS CBN Foundation on its 10th anniversary with a commitment to raise funds for its programs that support disadvantaged children in the Philippines. On August 4 and 5, the series of events will be kicked off with a bowling tournament at Cerrito Lane.
The non-profit’s Southern California liaison and event chair, Lydia Soriano pledged that, “We will stand by our promise to change the lives of children in the Philippines. Every dollar goes a long way towards their healthcare and education and we know that in California, generosity abounds.”
Community leaders, the Philippine Consular Corps and local celebrities are leading the list of patrons whose charitable contributions will go towards children’s programs and disaster communities. In expected fun fashion, the event will be giving up to $4,000 and raffle items in prizes.
“We have been fortunate to be able to rely on the Filipino American community of Southern California to lead in philanthropic efforts such as this,” said J. Robbie Fabian, President of the ABS CBN Foundation International. “Here, the sense of family has always translated into compassion for those among us who are most in need.”
