No nation should ‘bully’ other nations, says proposed House resolution

MANILA, Philippines—(UPDATE) A proposed resolution by the House of Representatives seeks to support  the Department of Foreign Affairs’ call for a rules-based regime in the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea), saying no nation should “bully” other nations in the region.

House Resolution 1401, filed by Representative Roilo Golez,  said China has “aggressively violated” international law when its forces intruded into Philippine-claimed territories in the disputed region at least six times since February.

“The Philippines, as an independent, proud, peace-loving, sovereign nation must not allow any other nation to bully and trample on the rights and dignity of the other nations in the region,” the proposed resolution read.
